Filmed on location throughout the world, written and narrated by Dr. Allan Lindsay, this series highlights the history of the Christian church, beginning with the great apostasy, presenting dramatic re-creations of Reformation scenes, the SDA Church formation, and the gift of prophecy, and concluding with the Lord’s return. 4 DVDs, 62-90 min. each.
VOLUME 1 (Parts 1 and 2):
The Apostasy; The Reformers (62 min.)
The first episodes of this series document the most gripping chapters in the great controversy. Filmed on location in Europe, Dr. Allan Lindsay takes you to the very ground where heroes of the Reformation stood and fought a just cause against the power brokers of Catholicism. Actors portray the greatest moments of Martin Luther, the Waldenses, and John Knox–letting you sense the powerful faith and the strength of conviction that boldly led the way into the dawning light of the Reformation.
VOLUME 2 (Parts 3 and 4):
The Great Expectation; After the Disappointment (68 min.)
William Miller led a growing group of Christians who wholeheartedly believed that Christ would come on October 22, 1844. Dr. Allan Lindsay recounts their hope-filled movement and the tragic disappointment that followed. But out of the disappointment, a new church arose. Here is an in-depth look at three historical factors that established the Seventh-day Adventist church: the resolution of the Great Disappointment through Bible study, the keeping of the seventh-day Sabbath at a small church in New Hampshire, and the gift of prophecy coming to two men and a frail woman named Ellen Harmon.
VOLUME 3 (Parts 5 and 6):
The Weakest of the Weak; A Lesser Light (66 min.)
Documentary and drama combine to reveal the early life of Ellen White. You see the guiding influence of the prophetic gift in her own actions and in the early history of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Dr. Allan Lindsay examines the biblical basis for prophecy and gives extraordinary examples of its operation. Dramatic vignettes in episode 6 include Mrs. White’s interaction with secret society member N. D. Faulkhead and health reformer Stephen Smith. You also get a close look at Dr. J. H. Kellogg and the theological debate that swirled around him.
VOLUME 4 (Parts 7 and 8):
A Healing Ministry; Ellen, The Woman (90 min.)
What Ellen White saw in an 1863 vision gave members of the Adventist Church a lasting advantage in matters of health and medicine. The seventh episode in this series compares these startling insights with the semi-primitive health practices of her day. Their continuing influence is traced down through time, past he founding of health institutions at Battle Creek, Paradise Valley, Glendale, and Loma Linda. In the last episode, we are admitted into Ellen White’s personal life. We see her as mother, wife, writer, and friend. Dr. Allan Lindsay’s epilogue examines the biblical role of the Adventist Church as the great controversy moves toward its climax.
